Answers:

It actually sounds like you might not be eating enough, especially of the right things. Its good to work out before you've eaten in the morning, but for each meal or snack you have you should be eating some form of lean protein such as chicken, fish or lean beef. Granola is also a great source of good fats, carbs and protein. You should also be eating more often to keep your metabolism up and dissuade your body from storing fat as well as giving it a constant supply of energy and protein with which to rebuild your body. I would suggest a snack between meals consisting of a piece of fruit along with cooked egg whites or fish. These can be cooked before hand and reheated when needed.

A note on water, drink at least ten cups a day, the first one or two before you work out in the morning and then one or two with every meal. I would also recommend that you drink a cup of skim milk an hour or two before bed, this will give your body water as well as a slowly digested protein so that your body will be rebuilding itself through the night, keeping your metabolism up and preventing you from entering a catabolic (muscle eating) state while you sleep.

Now, pilates is fine and all, but I would recommend that you do two strength training days with resistance (i.e. free weights, resistance bands, etc.) focusing one day on your upper body(chest, back, shoulders, biceps and triceps...you can ask the gym rats, don't be nervous, most will only be too happy to show you what exercises to do and how to do them, most gym people are actually very nice, so long as you don't pester them when they are actually lifting weight) and another day on your lower body and abdominals(Quads, hamstrings and calves). You can do up to three days a week, but no more than two upper body or lower body days a week, which should be spaced at least four days apart and alternated, if you do two upper body workouts one week and one lower body, you should do two lower body and one upper body the next week.

Finally, rest. It is important to allow your body to recuperate from all the stress you put on it, that being said, sunday is usually the best day for most people. On your rest day you should do as little work as possible, and not work out at all. Many people say that on the rest day you should eat whatever you want, and they mean whatever. I would recommend that you eat what you like, but not overdo it, and stray away from sugary drinks as much as possible. Chocolate is fine, but again, everything in moderation. Try to eat things you like to get you motivated for the next weeks workouts and avoid getting burned out on your diet. This rest day will send the message to your body that everything is fine, you aren't in a famine type situation and there is no need to store fat, as well allowing you to recover from your workout and prepare for the week ahead, the rest day is the day where you should plan out your meals and workouts for the week ahead.
