Answers:
Actualy at 140lbs you are not technically overweight for your height!. In the upper range of normal, yes but ok!. However if you are not happy then there is no harm in trying to lose a little but dont be unrealistic!.
Losing weight is the same whether you gain it from being on the pill or simply overeating!. The reason you gain weight on the pill (if you do) is because it makes you hungry! its to do with the change in your hormones!. So if you are still taking it then you might struggle more than if you have stopped!. The formula is the same tho; eat less calories than you burn in a day and increase your exercise levels as well!.
1500 calories is about right for the average woman per day so make sure you eat a healthy balanced diet, including loads of veg, fruit and a protein that you like and is acceptable to you!. Try to reduce the amount of dairy products and fats as fat contains loads of calories that are easily stored by the body!.
As for workouts, you need to do some fat burning 'aerobic' stuff and some to tone so try a mix of power walking, at least 20 mins 3x a week, and maybe swinmming, pilates or yoga for the toning!. or go to a reputable gym (i hate the gym which is why i walk) and ask them to work out a programme for you!.
If you stick to this and healthy eating , you should see a weight loss and improvement in your shape in a couple of months!. Dont try to speed things up by going on a ridiculously low calorie diet because you'll only end up cheating, feel ill and not have the energy to exercise!. 2lbs a week weight loss is about right altho, if you are exercising hard, you may actually gain muscle mass so your loss may be slower!. However you will see the difference in your shape!. good luck and well done for quitting smoking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
