Answers:
The FDA (Food & Drug Administration) makes the "rules" about blood donation!.

People who weigh less have less blood!. The "average" woman has about 9 pints of blood, and she'll lose a pint when she donates!.

People thinner than 110 pounds may have less than 9 pints!. If you lose a certain percentage of your blood through donation, you may become "shocky" and even be at risk for cardiac arrhythmias as your body attempts to compensate!.

Again, blood donation isn't based on a healthy weight (I've seen 300-pound people donate blood)!. It's based on how much blood your body can afford to lose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

YOu also need to drink plenty of water, stay away from coffee & pop (anything that dehydrates you)!. You need to be 18 or older!. They will ask if you use drugs, have had multiple sexual partners within the last 6 months, had any virus/disease within the last 6 months, had a blood transfusion, or a tattoo within the last 6 months!.

They ask a ton of questions to make sure that your blood is good!. They test it afterwards, but they make sure that you are healthy enough to even give blood!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because people who are underweight (or even close to underweight) are more likely to suffer adverse effects from the blood loss!. Also they are more likely to have other deficiencies in their blood that would be harmful to a person recovering from an injury or illness that required the blood transfusion!.

They also require that you're a certain number of pounds AWAY from being underweight, just to be on the safe side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

so you don't pass out from so much blood drawn!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
