I was taught in school to drink water before or after you eat (it helps digestion) and to aim for 64 oz's a day, unless you are very physically active, in which case you would need to drink more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The rule of thumb I have heard is multiplying your bodyweight by !.65 to !.66 depending on how active you are but I always reccomend !.66 just becasue!. I am no expert but this is expert advice form an expert so!.!.!.!.!.the experts say a 100 pound person should drink 66 ounces a day!. SO multiply bodyweight by !.66 and drink this many ounces of water a day!. I have heard that drinking toomuch water while eating and before you eat decreases digestive properties so on an empty stomach is best, also while and after you work out, (if you do) and a little before!. Drink before your thirsty, your pee should be light yellow to clear and have no real noticable odors!. So that being said you should probably have a water filter and if you can , (if your rich) drink only steam distilled water becasue this is pretty much the purest water you can drink, actually it is pure water, purer than pure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

During different survival training missions in my career in the US Army, we are told to drink at least one quart a day!. But this also depends on the weather, and other factors such as how much physical exhaustion has a body been through!. My rule of thumb is if I feel dehydrated drink small amounts of water until I feel better!. If my urine is very dark, this is also a sign of dehydration again I will drink a quart of water!. Be careful about getting to dehydrated, this can cause Cardiac Arrest if it is prolonged!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
