Answers:
They probably die young because they have beat their bodies to a pulp for the sport!. Before modern conveniences everybody had a shorter lifespan because they wore their bodies out with Hard labor and poor nutrition!.
Same for athletes, they manipulate their bodies to maximize their ability to do whatever sport they do!. That is not a healthy way to live for anyone!.!. extremes in anything are not healthy and they really start to bite you in the butt in your middle years!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe it's because they have such high metabolisms from the amount of food they eat and exercise they do that their body is aging more quickly!. When you have a high metabolism, everything is sped up, so you don't really live as long!.
There's actually a group out there who restrict their calorie intakes to purposely slow down their metabolism, so that they can live longer!. This is what happens when people are starving to death - their metabolism slows to keep them alive!.
So I suppose that a higher metabolism = shorter life, and a slow metabolism = longer life!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

A lot of top athletes do things that damage their bodies!.!. For instance, look at how many use steroids and hormone replacements!. Then there are athletes that keep their body fat levels so low that they actually put strain on their organ systems by not having enough fat, for instance, some ice skaters!.!. Female gymnasts are usually such low body fat that they no longer have their periods as they've tapped into their essential fat levels!.!.
The thing is, to be a top professional athlete is highly competitive!. They end up training more then is good for their bodies, taking drugs, reducing body fat levels too low, etc!.!.
It's certainly no argument against exercise though, exercise will still give you a longer lifespan then a sedentary lifestyle!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have a heart thing, that causes my heart to beat almost double what most peoples do at rest!.!.!.which causes my matabolism to fly like an athletes!.!.!.working out my heart rate doesn't actually go MUCH faster than it does at rest!.!.!.So, it is considered an "internal ageing" thing!.!.!.its like a hummingbird!.!.!.their hearts fly all the time to their very small size!.!.!.athletes also run their hearts very fast!.!.!.the fact they take care of their bodies and nourish them well allows them to live the "normal expectency" along with everybody else!. Same is true of me!.!.!.I'm hopeful that by excercising and careing for myself really well my heart to will live a long long time!. Kinda strange, I know, but sometimes the truth is stranger than ANY fiction that can ever be written!. Have a great day!.!.!.Take care!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

They don't tell you the other half!.
I'm an athlete myself, fastpitch softball!.
In college, do you know how much excercise they do for softball!?
They do training 12 hours a day for two weeks without breaks!.
That's a lot of pressure on the body!.
And when working out is all you do and it's ur life and career, your body expects to be worked hard!.
So then think about it:
A pro athlete retires!.
No longer is he working that hard!.
So his body shuts down!.

It's the sad truth but we'd do anything for a sport!.

Too much exercise is no good as constantly overexerting yourself wears your body out faster!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
