Answers:
Benchpresses use your pectoral(chest muscles) deltoids and triceps muscles!. To increase your bench you have to perfrom more bench presses!. Its called the Law of Specificity!. You will also benefit by doing Shoulder presses and heavy triceps work like close grip benchpresses and triceps pushdowns!.
After a heavy chest, deltiods and triceps day, dont work these muscles again for atleast 2 days!.
Push ups will have a very limited effect cause your lifting just 40% of your bodyweightWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well, Sumit S pretty much nailed it!. If you're a beginner do push ups for a few weeks as well!. There's no need messing around with any m2x or vsx fancy sounding program!. Just stick with the conventional 5 sets of 6-12 reps working with increasing weights and reducing weights!. That will give you slow and steady gains in the benchpress!. remember you will hit a plateau sometime, that is gains will slow down and stop!.
Thats when you seek out a qualified trainer who will take you to the next step!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the push up only utilizes 60% of the total bodyweight!. if you can bench more than that, then they will be useless for increasing strength!. the best way to increase the bench press is to find a bench press routine like MM2k, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

do the benchpress, it is not a machine, and do it with weight you are confortable with where you don't need a spotter!. Dont do pushups, those are too easy and will just increase muscle endurance and not strength!. When you are doing the bench press try to do 3 sets of eight repititions, good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Push ups are actually the best way to do what you want to!. They work the chest and back and shoulders!. Really, that is the only safe way!. If you start lifting without a spotter with heavy weights, you are asking for trouble!. Another alternative is to lift ligther weights and do more reps!.!.!.just a thought!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yea, do push ups carrying a book-bag filled with some form of weight!.
You may also do light weight bench pressing but do a lot of reps: this will give you ripped muscles and a lot of strength!.
