Question: How many calories should a 13 year old have per day!?!?
my friend is a 13 year old girl, 4"11 and weighs 84 lbs how many calories should she eat per day!?!?!? =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

She is a good weight but could definitely do with being a bit heavier!.
I think that she should eat around 1000 calories per day but i don't think that she should start counting or checking the back of wrappers and packets!.
Just make sure that she's happy :D

I just thought that I might add something else after I saw what you put about her checking packets and stuff!.

Don't let her do it too often because if she does then soon she'll not want to eat things that don't have many calories in them at all!. When you're with her keep telling her that there is not need for her to keep counting calories!. As long as she eats 3 FULL meals each day she should be fine!. Also sometimes people who are like this don't like you telling them that they're thin (if she is, i don't know but she sounds like she could be) and if she has got it into her head that she's fat then maybe if you keep telling her that she isn't (maybe even make it into an insult (( for her own good)) ) then she might start believing you!.

I'm not sure if this is entirly accurate as it's set up for grown-ups, but I have a calculator that calculates your daily caloric needs based on age, height, sex and activity level!.
If she's not very active she should consume approx 1604 caolries a day to stay at the weight she is, 1204 calories in order to loose weight and between 1804 and 2004 in order to gain weight!.

If she's moderately active:
1728 in order to maintain current weight
1328 in order to loose weight
between 1928 and 2128 in order to gain weight!.

If she's very active/athletic:
1851 in order to maintain current weight
1451 in order to loose weight
Between 2051 and 2251 in order to gain weight!.

I obviously filled in your friends age, height and weight, but as she isn't a grown-up I'm not sure how accurate the algorithm is!. If she really wants to know she should ask her doctor or school nurse!. Alternatively she could try looking it up online or in the library!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If I am not mistaken there is no caloric intake for a girl or boy your age!. Caloric intake comes into play when you get much older and the pounds start to pile up on you!. I remember eating chinese food and Baskin Robbins at the age of 12 and i was fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
