It is fat, but it's a good fat (a polyunsaturated fat) which doesn't block up your arteries like saturated fat does!. You need some amount of fat for your body to function properly (about 15% of daily calories should come from fat) and it is best if they are healthy, polyunsaturated fats like olive oil!.

It can be helpful in both gaining and losing weight!. You should ideally get about 60% of your daily calories from carbohydrates (including fruit and vegetables), 20-25% from protein and 15% from fat!. If you are aiming to lose weight, keep these proportions but eat 500 calories less than your recommended amount (so if you are a woman who should be eating 2000 calories a day, eat 1500)!. To gain weight, keep the proportions but add 250-500 calories!. Both diets should be combined with regular exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
