I know there are a trillion different diet plans and products out there?

But whats the best method for a man to lose a signifacant amount of weight and gain some muscle?


Answers:

None of those plans or pills or drinks or bars or shakes really work. The only true way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise. Eat a mixture of fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates (think whole wheat bread I like Ezekiel brand because it is really healthy, brown rice, whole wheat cous cous, whole wheat pasta, etc.), and lean protein (chicken breast, turkey breast, and occasionally very lean cuts of beef). Make sure to keep tabs on portions because even healthy foods in unhealthy portions will keep a good part of your weight on. WATCH the fat! Aim to eat about 30 grams of fat a day and about 10 grams of saturated fat a day.

As far as exercise is concerned you need to be doing about an hour of cardio daily, yep I said it... daily. If you can't do that initially build up to it but make sure and push yourself so you get a good quality vigorous workout. You should also begin a lifting regimen. Half an hour three days a week is a good idea. Remember your muscles need a day in between work outs to recover and rebuild, never work the same muscle groups consecutively.

If you are quite overweight it is a good idea to meet with your doctor and discuss your weight loss plan and your goals he/she can help monitor you and make sure everything is going as it should.
