I'm trying to gain muscle?!

Question:

I'm trying to gain muscle?

what works better? A lot of weight, but less reps...or...a lot of reps, but less weight??? If anyone knows a sure-fire workout plan using only simple dumbbells...please answer...
I would like to gain bulk cuz i am REALLY scrawny right now. I am 16 years old. And i would like to gain muscle in my upper body. Mainly my biceps, but also: Triceps, pecs, abs, etc

Answers:

To add mass you are going to want to do 3-4 sets of 6-8 reps. I really suggest you invest in a barbell and some weights, but let me try to give you a plan based on just the dumbbells you have.

Monday:
Do 20 sets of as many pushups as you can do each set.

Wednesday:
Chest/Shoulder workout: Dumbbell fly, dumbbell bench press, side lateral, arnold press

Friday:
Bicep/Tricep workout: Bicep curls, standing dumbbell curl, hammer curl, along with 5-10 sets of diamond pushups on the side.

Saturday:
15 sets of as many situps/crunches as you can do.

You need rest in between, that is why I spaced out the workouts.

Make sure you eat a lot, and good, too. 3000 or more calories daily. Invest in a protein powder mix and have it after your workouts. Eat a lot of carbs along with all the protein because carbs are your main source of energy. Don't eat foods high in sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fats, or only on the occasion.

Hope that helps. E-mail me if you need descriptions of any of those exercises.
