Question: Will dieting stunt my growth!?
j/w im a big boy but little brain and my hieght and size is all thatll get me into college (football) and im wanting to loose wieght for football but i dont want it to effect me in the long run will 1200 calories a day hurt me or should i just go to a normal one like 2000!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Will dieting stunt your growth!? It's possible if you do it the wrong way!. That's why on diet pill bottles it warns you of dangerous side effects!. If it can kill you, i'm sure it can stunt your growth!. I'm not going to tell you yes, because I have never heard of it, but I'm not going to say no, because I have a hunch that it is possible!.

It's not all about dieting!. When your in alot of physical activity like sports, you actually want to increase your calories!. Decreasing them will only fatigue you faster when you are playing football and working out!. (think of calories as gallons of gasoline, your not going to make it from georgia to california on a hummer with just 2 tanks of gas, your probably going to need 2 tanks just to make it from one side of a state to another) What you need to do is turn your body into a calorie burning machine!. Eating alot of calories is okay, just be sure to burn it off!. You do that by exercising, exercising exercising!. Be smart about it though!. Do practical workouts, don't try to invent new things, you'll just end up hurting yourself!. Also, add variety into your routine!. Don't just go to the gym and lift weights, trying to buff out!. Nothings wrong with that, your muscles will definately get big, but your fat won't be affected!. It'll stay right where it is!. Cardio is the best way to burn fat!. You see any fat marathon runners!? You should do some sprints once in a while!.(run like hell for a short distance, faster than fast, gradually build on distance)

One thing you can do is just look up workouts online, or get a Men's Fitness magazine, they have alot of tips about eating healthy(and still have alot of good taste, not at all like that fake diet food you recieve daily in the mail from diet companies) and about working out smart!.

I think your taking the common approach to your situation, which is a big mistake!. How muh you eat is important, but quality of the foods are more important!. I'm NOT saying quality like buying expensive foods versus buying the walmart brand stuff!. I'm saying trading those fried food and candy bars for grilled/baked/boiled foods and fruit/veggie snacks!. Are you pigging out on junk food, cokes, and beer!? Or are you eating healthy foods and drinking water, milk, juice and sports drinks!? It's not how much you put in you, it's how much good stuff you put in you!.

Counting calories is for women that wants to maintain a certain physique which is "toned"!. Men make the mistake of following what women do, you want muscles!? Or a slender thin body!? LOL, that's what direction you are heading in, in dieting!. Stay away from diet drugs!. Multivitamins are okay, but not things that say burn calories fast, supress hunger, loose weight, etc!.!.!. You are going to hurt yourself, and there's alot of idiots out there that ignore the warnings, you be smart okay!? Anways, I can babble all day long about it!. But you need to find pastas, loaded in carbs, meat loaded in protein, eggs are high in protein!. And eat good veggies like brocolli, dark leafy foods, etc!. You can add flavoring, don't be scared to have ranch or mayonaise, just don't add a ton of that junk like some nasty people do!. I seen people at subway get a healthy sandwich, but top it off with a giant glob of mayonaise, and it makes me sick to my stomach watching them demand for MORE mayo!. ewwWww@Answer-Health@Com

if you are still growing!.!.!.but over weight!.!.!.food choices might help considerably!.!.!.don't get hung up on calories unless you are obese!. Just avoid sodas, sugar, and eat more fruits/veggies, and water!.

if you are over weight!.!.you will likely be slow!. Colleges dont draft fat slow guys!. Work on your conditioning and the weight will fall off as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest asking maybe a doctor or someone whether you're still going to grow or not, and if you are, keep your normal diet, but if you're as tall as you're ever going to get then you can diet however you want!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1200 calories is way too low for an active male!. I would suggest more along the lines of 1800-2000!.

I agree with the others though, don't worry so much about calorie intake than just making healthier choices and drinking plenty of water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
