Gaining weight despite efforts (quitting smoking)?!

Question:

Gaining weight despite efforts (quitting smoking)?

I have a 1 year old, and left over baby-fat (20-30 pounds worth) I was finally starting to loose that weight, like 12 pounds came off, and I quit smoking, and started a new birthcontrol pill, and have gained more weight. I haven't varried anything in my diet/excersize routine, but now Im gaining instead of looseing. How to stop this so I can start LOOSING weight again??? I eat 4-5 small meals a day, I go on a 2 mile walk every day, 25 sit-ups every hour between 8-5, and somdays I'll throw in a cardio routine too. And Im gaining weight. It's depressing. Any Ideas to help, I was so excited when I finally started loosing weight, and im so dissapointed now.

Answers:

Well first off, the hormones in birth control pills make us gain weight. (Very common side-effect.) Second, now that you have quit smoking (congrats by the way, I'm smoke free 4 months now and have put on 10 lbs) food now tastes better so you are eating more of it. Try substituting fresh raw veggies for snacks. Eat chicken (white meat) instead of beef or pork. Also, some of that weight you may be gaining might be from muscle you are putting on with the work out! Remember, muscle weighs more than fat.
