Getting toned?

Ok, so I was wondering, if I wanted to get toned and not gain in size, should I work out with smaller weights and more reps, and dont rest in between days? because I am really just trying to burn calories and not gain


Answers:

My PT has me doing 20-30 reps & adjusting the amount of weight to the point of "feeling the burn". I do a minimum of 4 sets. It takes a while, so I lift about 2 times a week per muscle group (total of 4-5 lifting work-outs).

Pick up aerobics and cardio, especially kick-boxking and swimming. Pilates would be a good one, too. These tone you and help burn calories w/o building much muscle "bulk".
