Working out, HUNGRAY ALLLLLLL the time?!

Question:

Working out, HUNGRAY ALLLLLLL the time?

I just started working out last week and NO JOKE I am hungray alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll... the time. All I do is about 30 mins of cardio and lifting small weights. I work out about 4-5 hours a week. Nothing that crazy at all, and since I am new to working out i'm not doing tons of miles or anything. BUT my hungar is insane. I am noticing I can eat every 2-3 hours and my normal portions don't fill me up the way they used to. Is this normal in just 1-2 weeks? I am 5'3 125lbs. Anyone !???!

I have a fairly healthy diet:

Mornings:
coffee, Smart Start Cereal, skim milk

Snack:
Baked potatoe Chips

Lunch:
Salad, with lean meats like chicken, fat free dressing

Snack:
Chocolate (so bad i know, I am also PMSIng this week, so that might be it, too)

Apple/ lowfat peanut butter

Dinner:
Salad again, or veggie egg white omlete with some low fat sour cream. no cheese.

Dessert:
Non fat, low sugar frozen yogurt

Answers:

Well, you're off to a good start, but you KNOW you need to change the snacks. Sugar and potatoes ('bad' carbs') are not only high in calories, but they tend to cause your sugar levels to spike and drop.

You should switch the snacks to something with some protein, perhaps some cottage cheese with A LITTLE bit of pineapple chunks to add some fiber and to add some sweetness. And though this sounds gross, sprinkling a little bit of cocoa powder and some sweetner (splenda, equal) with 1/2 cup ricotta makes a nice snack/dessert (it takes exactly like the interior of a canoli pastry).

You also need to add more protein into your dinner. Actually, your dinner should be your breakfast (saute the 'salad', wrap it onto the omelette to make a western omelet). Add some meat, like chicken breast, fish is always good, or a decent cut of meat - you won't need much, perhaps 4-6 oz.

I'm a big fan of the South Beach and Mediterranean diets, both which resemble your diet. Look at their recipe books for ways to alter some of your meals. The easiest way to fall off a diet is when the diet becomes monotonous.
