Question:
If I cover the same amount of distance, will I burn more calories the faster I walk?
Answers:
If walking, you will pretty much burn the same calories no matter what speed you are walking (however, you will get more cardio benefits if you walk briskly). Generally speaking, you will spend ABOUT the same amount of calories if you are walking or running if covering the same distance. HOWEVER, because you enter "double float phase" while running (both feet leave the ground), and have to use more eccentric quad control upon landing, this will require more energy and require SLIGHTLY more calories will be burned. Studies on this phenomenon, however, contradict each other.
