Question:

How much weight would i lose if i cut out carbs?

Ok im only 14 years old and i wanna lose about 20-25 pounds before school starts which is in about 1 month. So would it be healthy to cut out 75% of carbs or not? Or do you have any other ideas on how to lose that much weight?


Answers:

NO! it is not a good idea to cut your carbs by so much.

reason 1: carbs are used for energy: without energy you will be struggling to do anything. and bear in mind lowering your calories by so much (which will happen when you lower carbs) will have other adverse effects internally: ie things like periods

reason 2: lowering what you put into your body will mean whatever you put into it, it will hold onto. meaning if you wanted to lose fat, you won't because your body is being shocked so much that nothing will leave it's system. which leads to:

reason 3: catabolic state. due to such low carbs, your body will attack your muscle for energy before it will use the fat. this is not good.

the best way to lose is to find out your daily required caloric intake then take off 500 calories. this will lose 1lb of fat per week. it might take a little longer but you will keep it off in the long run. plus it's almost entirely fat, so while your losing overall you'll look better as well.

for your diet, you can drop your carbs, but only slightly. get your diet to have a 40/35/25 % . carbs/protein/fats. you'll be much better for it.
