I'm on a diet but suddenly I stopped losing weight?!

Question: I'm on a diet but suddenly I stopped losing weight!?
I've been on a diet for the past 4 weeks!. I eat very smart now--small portions, healthy foods, healthy snacks, lots of fruits, etc!. Im also running for about 30 mins a day 5 days a week!.

For the first 3 weeks, the weight was dropping steadily!. I lost about 3!.5 pounds each week so that was fine!. However, this week the weight loss abruptly stopped!. Stopped altogether!. In fact, I have gained a pound this week while I have not at all changed my diet!. I havent cheated!. (If I did, I wouldnt be asking this!.) Also, I've made my runs a little longer (up to 45 mins) so Im even more perplexed!.

My weight loss goal is 30 pounds of which I've lost about 10 now!. (Yes, I could stand to lose it!.) However, Im concerned because all of a suddent I've just "hit a wall" with dieting!. I just dont understand how all of a sudden I stop losing weight!. Not slow down losing weight--outright stop losing weight!. Especially when easily losing 3 pounds per week before!. Ideas!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You need to trick your body to continue losing weight --
- Change diet to healthy eating for life (tips below)
- Jump start metabolism occasionally
- Improve the way you exercise (tips below)

This happens to everyone eventually when they are on diets!. On the plus side it means that you've been dieting right and you've just hit your plateau!. However to continue to lose weight after this point it's going to take a lot more physical effort on your part, and you also need to stick to the diet - forever!.

The reason people say diets don't work is because once you've achieved weight loss or even your target is people stop being 'as careful' as when they were dieting!. You don't need to consider this a diet, but a life-long change in the way you eat!. If what you're doing right now won't work for you then you need to consider an alternative eating habit plan!.

Avoid 'white death' - that's white potatoes, white rice, white sugar etc!. They might fill you up but they have little to no nutritional value!. Consider eating things with high protein if you're exercising regularly - eggs and fish are great for this!.

As was mentioned above by Anne, you'll want to occasionally 'kick-start' your metabolism!.!.!. do this by suddenly eating a very large HEALTHY meal!. (Not cake) This will make your body go 'what the hell!?!?' and work overtime to process it!. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF EVER - that will make the body start storing all your food as fat to be used later!.

However, to continue losing you're going to have to up the exercise!. Now 35 mins, 3-5 days a week is a great way to 'stay fit' but to actively lose weight you have to act like you're training for something!. That's going to mean about 5 days a week for 45 mins to an hour for a man and longer then that for a woman!. Each body is different so the best thing you can do would be talk to a physical trainer!.

You run - but do you run the best way you can!.!.!.!. you need to trick your body!. Now if you just run flat out that's not going to be as good as jogging, then a short burst of intense speed!.!.!. jogging again, then another burst!. This will REALLY help you out and you wont have to do it as long to get better results!. Don't do it in time either!.!.!. you're body will get used to that ad start expecting it!.

If you have a routine - change it up!. If you do weight lifting, crunches and then treadmill, change that up every three days or you're body 'prepares' and you wont lose any weight!.

Surprise your body - it settles very quickly into routine!. That will help you lose more weight!. If you don't weight-lift and you're trying to lose weight I also suggest you start - but don't forget to stretch or you'll lose flexibility!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not listen to Ann!. That is not the way to go!. Not everyone is like it that!. When my mother is on a diet she has times were she loses the weight a pound a week or not any at all!. That is normal!. The first few weeks you lose losts of weight then you slowly lose it!. You only run for a half an hour!. Maybe do other kinds of exercise, besides running!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

to be honest and your not going to believe me, when this happened to me i ate a big big piece of cake!. it was enough for my body to say woah! and work overtime!. i kinda kick started my metabolism!. i didnt believe it would work then i lost 3 lbs that week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You always lose quite a bit at the beginning of a diet due to change of eating habits, then weight lose slows down considerably!. Keep up the healthy eating and exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've lost weight before and am familiar with the process,It sounds to me like you've hit a plateau!.
The body becomes confused while losing weight and begins to worry that it may be starving because of the pounds shed!.The body then becomes stubborn and starts to hold onto the fat!.
This can be solved by changing your workout because it keeps your body guessing and works new muscles!.Another idea is to eat more calories one day, then the next day eat fewer!.Again, that leaves your body trying to figure out what's happening and you'll start losing fat again!.
It sounds like you're doing all the right things so the pound you gained this week is probably muscle (it weighs more than fat does)
I hope this helps you to reach your goal!.
Keep up the good work :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
