My advice would be to get a Thera-Band and start working with that!. It will be helpful even after you are on pointe to continue strenghtening your ankles and calves!. Sit on the floor and wrap the band around the ball of your foot!. Keeping it flexed, pull the band tight and point your foot!. The band will provide resistance that will help strengthen your ankles!. Your teacher can give you more exercises that you can also do with your Thera-Band for the ankles and other muscles in your legs!.
Another good thing to try is just simple relavaes!. You can do these on both legs or try them one-legged for extra weight!. These are the things that I worked on before going on pointe and I hope they hope you as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I went on pointe at 11 years old, I'll tell you it's not good for you, but it's good for your dancing career!. If you start wearing ankle weights that will help!. But fair warning, your ankles are not everything!. A strong back is important, so keep strengthening your back muscles as well as the ankles!. Traditional ballet footwork and back training are what made me a great dancer by the age of 11, but it also messed up my pinkie toe!. Just beware that ugly feet are those of a ballet dancer, and flip-flops are flattering to most 15-18 year olds, but not hardcore dancers! Good luck, pointe is a beautiful and mystical form so dance dance dance and strengthen all parts of your body to be able to keep up!

Be sure to get a nice lambswool for foot padding, and rosin so that you can stick marvelous turns!

PS Be light on the toes, great quad and calf muscles are a must as they support the back!!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

oh!.!.!. hmm!.!.!.!. thats strange!. i suggest working you arch by using a stretch band, and they also have special things you can buy from discountdance!.

TRUST MEE!!!!!!! it is not at all exciting!! it is only PAINFUL!!!!!! just be prepared to have numb, bleeding, aching feet with caluses!. wear flip flops as much as you can now!.!.!.!.!. because soon you will have the horrible curse of dancer feet!.!.!.!. and ur feet will look like crap!.!.!. as do all dancers!. i have the curse too, dont worry lol!.

i'm not going to sugarcoat it!.!.!.!.!.!.!. it is A LOT of work!.!.!. and you have to be very dedicated!!! and it hurts!!! pointe may be nice to watch, but its not nice to dance!. i'm just being real with you and im trying to prepare you for it!.!.!.!. so i hope i could help :]Www@Answer-Health@Com
