Guys/Girls: Healthy or Skinny more attractive?!

Question: Guys/Girls: Healthy or Skinny more attractive!?
I know no one can speak for an entire gender, but I'm just curious about personal preference!.

I'm 19 years old, 5'2" (and a half), and currently in treatment for an eating disorder!.

My lowest weight fluctuated between 89-90 pounds!.
My current, healthy, restored weight is around 115!.

I know everyone's preferences are different, but I seemed to get a lot of positive attention (from both guys and girls) at my lowest weight (which is confusing, because that just seems to reinforce eating disordered behavior)!. And looking back at photos from my lowest weight, I looked really unhealthy and unattractive!. So, whats up with that!? What's YOUR personal preference!? Healthy!? Skinny!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I'm a straight woman, but I think that other women look the best at a healthy weight as opposed to stick skinny!. Stick skinny people of either sex look unhealthy -- because they look an awful lot like drug users or people with a disease!.

A good rule of thumb for what constitutes a healthy weight on a woman is 100 pounds for 5 feet tall, and then add 5-15 pounds for every inch above that!. 5'2" at 115 is PERFECT!. For guys, the same rule applies, but add 10-20 pounds to the base number!. If you have large bones or like to look curvy, you can add a little more!. I have a girlfriend who prefers her weight on the higher side because she likes, as she puts it, to look bootylicious!. When she gets below a certain weight, her butt flattens out and her boobs get small, which she doesn't like!. People who have muscular builds will look compact but actually weigh a lot, as muscle weighs more than fat!. I'm 5'7" and weigh around 145!.!.!.!.but I wear a size 6!. I used to run when I was younger and still have a lot of muscle mass compared to women who don't exercise!. You really need to go by how you LOOK and FEEL!. Weight is just a number and can be affected by time of day, what you eat, etc!. How your clothes fit is also a good gauge of the right weight for you!. I don't weigh myself because I think that that number can psych you out!. You don't need that stress in your life!.

On the flipside for men, I like a man who looks healthy!. I'm not attracted to super-muscular men with 6-packs, because that gives off the vibe that a man is very high-maintenance and too "into himself!." I like an average guy look!. Even a little pot belly is OK!. My fiance could stand to lose 30 pounds by medical standards, but he's a very tall, big man, and that extra weight makes him more cuddly!. A lot of women find him attractive because he looks so approachable, and his stance on that is, "I like food and I've always been a big guy!. Screw diets!." He eats healthy most of the time and concentrates on keeping his BP down and feeling good!.

As far as the positive attention, our media is screwed-up and trains people to "prefer" unhealthy and unattainable!. If you ask, say, men who grew up in the 60s and 70s (or earlier), they will tell you that today's models and actresses are way too thin!. That was when a natural body type was preferred and anyone who was too thin was suspected to be sick!. Also, a previous poster pointed out the maturity thing!. Both of my brothers are with plus-sized women and most men I know prefer a woman with curves to one that is model-thin!. I will tell you that I got THE MOST attention in my life when I weighed the most!.!.!.!.when I was pregnant and heavier than I am now!. I'm telling you - 99% of men like a woman who looks like a woman as opposed to a pre-teen girl or a little boy!.

If you want some positive reinforcement that's healthy, look up some photos of old movie actresses!. Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Betty Grable, Mae West!. All were women who were sex bombs in their day and still considered so today!.!.!.!.and none were stick skinny!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I did the exact same thing: I recovered from an eating disorder and put on a lot of weight!. (Congrats on the recovery, by the way!)
Pre-recovery, I did get a lot of compliments and attention - but I didn't like how I looked!. Now that I'm healthier, I have rosier cheeks, more of a bust, and an actual figure!. I'm a lot more confident about myself!.!.!. And I've always believed that confidence is one of the most attractive qualities a person can have!.
Personally, I can't wait for my friends to see my weight gain, and see how wonderfully healthy and feminine I look!. I'm sure your friends thought/will think the same!.
And I've always considered healthy-looking guys to be more attractive - they are so much cuddlier! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably because the people you were getting the positive attention from were extremely immature!. They think children's/ young teenager bodies are the ideal!. Grown women (20 and over) are curvy and real and that's hot! Generally grown men like curves, and if they don't- um, eek! Must mean they like little girl bodies!.

115 sounds like a beautiful weight for your height- and definitely on the thin side even!. And I bet it is a lot more comfortable to sit down, and I bet you have more boobs too!. I can say that because I was severely underweight for a while, and everything hurt to sit on! My fiance definitely likes me with more weight- I have my boobs and butt! lol!Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, what kind of guys are you attracting when you are sick and thin!? Prison guards from a concentration camp!? Are they paying attention to you because they pity you or feel sorry for you!? Buzzards and wild dogs are attracted to dead things!. Flies are attracted to certain things too!.

A real man sees beyond what is skin deep and loves you for who and what you are!. I am attracted to a healthy confident woman!. When she walks into a room, she doesn't much care what I think of her!. She knows who she is and what she is capable of doing!. She takes care of herself and is concerned about being healthy first!.

If you attract flies, dogs, prison guards and buzzards, you might end up marrying one!. Guess what!? They don't change! After you get married, they are still flies, dogs, buzzards and you are in prison with them!.

Stay healthy and wait for a man that will love you for who you are!. Don't throw your health away in order to attract a dog!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I definitely prefer women to be healthy!. I'm 6'2" and I weigh about 155 pounds!. That is skinny for my height!. I'm an adult male and I have an eating disorder as well!. My girlfriend is about 5'8" and 165 pounds!. That's what I prefer, a girl that is healthy!. All skin and bones creates a less appealing figure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I like seeing healthy people! I always feel bad for people that I can tell are too thin or too fat!. I try not to judge people too much on their weight though!.!.!.

I'm glad you are getting treatment for your eating disorder! It's such a hard thing to have to deal with! Good luck and I hope things work out for the best!Www@Answer-Health@Com
