Answers:
It is important that you start at whatever is comfortable for you. You don't want to risk injury, or overexertion, both of which will prevent you from adhering to any exercise routine. There are some people who have started walking/jogging at a 1/4 mile (or less) and have succeeded in maintaining a regular/ healthy exercise regimen. If 2 miles is comfortable, do it for a few sessions and then just increase your distance to where you feel the balance between competence/comfort and pushing it to the next level. If this is a lifestyle change, don't be so concerned with distance, just keep at it and you'll see that you'll be amazed by your progress. Some of my best runs and times have been when I turned my mind off of the distance or stopwatch (I'll have a friend time me sometimes).
