Question:

Will you help me lose weight? i'm 16 yrs old, 4'11", and 165 lbs!?

Hey. Well, as you can see, I am seriously overweight. I'm not just overweight, I am OBESE to the MAX. I have been struggling with my weight my whole life, and I need help. I've joined my high school tennis team and surprisingly I am on the cheer squad. I always keep myself busy by joining every club possible. I just don't know what to do. I want to diet, but I know I can't do it alone. I want to ask someone to go to a gym with me, but I am just too embarassed to ask. I want to be a normal girl. I want to go out on my first date, get my first kiss, wear a 2-piece bathing suit, and I want more confidence. I really want to lose weight before I start my senior year and I just want to be healthy. So if anyone could help me out or tell me what I can do or anything please, that would be great.

Answers:

Sweetie, your young like me, and you have plenty of time to grow, become fitter, and more confident with your body & yourself.
Firstly, think about where you've gone wrong. Lack of energy and motivation to go play sports? Too shy to go into the gym by yourself? The biggest problem is comforting yourself with foods. Most likely lollies, cakes and anything high in salt. Take away this factor and you will have SO much energy you'll be running miles!

Once you know what you've done wrong. Write a list. Everything you want to achieve, write "I deserve to be happy" or "I am going to do this for ME". When I feel down, I write encouraging things that keep me going.

Cut out all that gross fatty oils, cakes, junk food like Mcdonalds. Lollies too. Dont ever say "Oh just one lollie wont hurt" because most likely at this stage, you'll keep having more. It's our instict to eat a lot of lollies when we're overweight. We feel like we're hopeless so it can't hurt. This is wrong! It's OKAY to have ONE treat every now and again. Give yourself a choccie bar at the end of a month if you've lost a bit of weight.
Only opt for losing 1 kilo a week, or 2 kilos the max.
Do this by-
1. When you feel like your going to raid the fridge, cut up some apples into small pieces and have that. BUY NEW FOODS, ask your mum to put in effort to get healthier foods. Give her your food LIST. Write down foods such as "Organic yoghurt", "apples, mandarins, watermelon", "tuna in springwater, lettuce and carrot" - make a really fun salad with your choice of dressing. Dont buy low-fat yoghurt because it's been proven that it has LOADS of sugar in it. Not good.
By breaking your sugar-fix cycle, you'll have more natural energy to burn. The first few days will be hard. you'll be craving for 2-3 days like mad because your body isn't used to no sugar. I can tell you after that, you'll feel fantastic!
Your friends and family will support you no matter what!

Remember that you're beautiful inside and out, and people should love you for you. Not what's on the outside. =]
