Answers:
When going up the stairs, your torso is either vertical or leaning towards the stairs [up], against gravity!. This helps you to keep your balance!. However, when trying to go down two at a time, after a while you begin to lean forward so you're tilting down the stairs!. This puts you off balance because you're overextending!. An example of this is in fencing: when you take small steps, your torso remains vertical and you keep your balance!. However, if you take a larger step, you end up leaning forward to be able to make it, and this puts you off balance and makes you very easy to knock over!.
If you're going down the stairs quickly, you build up enough momentum to knock you completely off balance after just a few steps when taking two stairs at a time!. In order to compensate for the forward momentum, you would have to lean backward to prevent yourself from tripping and/or falling!. From experience, this is very awkward, and if you slow down you may end up falling backward and sitting rather forcibly!.Also, going down the stairs like this produces more strain on your knees, which can make it rather uncomfortable!. Overall, in order to go down the stairs two or more at a time, you have to strike a balance between gravity, your forward momentum, and your ability to keep yourself upright!. This is very difficult!. When going up the stairs, however, the most you'll generally have to worry about is making sure your steps are long enough to clear both stairs, and creating enough momentum to propel yourself to the top!.

When you climb stairs, you are pull yourself up the stairs which puts hardly any force on your knees due to the physics of gravity!. Gravity slows your body down after you push off with your legs to the next step!. By the time you reach the next step, you're body's upward motion is slowing to almost zero which is ideal!. When you are going down the stairs two at a time you are literally breaking your fall each time!. This is very hard on the knees and the muscles because it is a sudden force all at once!. To boot, your body is accelerating after leaving each step because gravity is pulling it downwards!. Your legs are stopping the acceleration to a halt!. Hope this helps, stay healthy!.

You can if you practise!. You might not know it, but it's just as easy to walk 2 steps up as to walking 2 steps down!. You just feel it's harder because you don't do it often and you feel scared that you might fall!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
