Answers:

Actually, the proper way to work your abdominals is to do the "crunch". You should only do about 20 or less a day. This muscle group is the quickest to "learn" what is coming and adapt rapidly. The quicker it adapts to what you are doing, the less work they do, and thus, the less results you will see. Try these...

1. lay on your back with your feet on the floor, shoulder width apart. Put your finger tips just behind your ears and keep your elbows even with your ears. Pull your belly button in towards your spine and press your lower back towards the floor. Contract your stomach as you breathe out and bring your shoulders up. Do not pull on your neck or "rock" your body while doing these.

2. While on your back and feet flat on the floor, put one ankle up on the opposite knee. Keep your fingers behind your ears and crunch up and twist. Remember to keep your belly button pulled in and hips square to the floor. Switch sides and repeat.

3. Reverse crunch. On your back, press your lower back to the floor and place your hands palm side down just outside of your hips. Bring your knees up and make an "L" shape with the lower part of your legs. Slowly bring your knees to just above your belly button and back to starting position slowly.

Once you are really good at those, you can try hanging crunches, where you can hang from something like monkey bars at the playground, and then bring your knees to your chest. You can also do them from side to side, or pull up your legs in a jack-knife position. I've been working out forever and still cannot do those!

Good luck and I hope I helped!
