What is a good jump rope program or amount of time that would be beneficial for !

Question:

What is a good jump rope program or amount of time that would be beneficial for that exercise?

I don't do much physical activity, so I'm trying to start a small workout that just consists of jogging and jump roping. So far, I have been walking for about 5 min, jogging for 8min, and walking again for an additional 5min. I wasn't sure of a good amount of time to add to that with jump roping without over-doing it. Thank you!

Answers:

Be sure you see your doctor before beginning any kind of physical activity that is strenuous or more physically demanding than you have done before.

Walking is a relatively low-impact form of exercise that you can incorporate into a weekly routine. If you are starting a new program, try walking every day for 30 minutes. You can gradually increase the distance you walk by judging how you feel. If you are overweight, or if you have joint problems, you should be cautious when incorporating jumprope or jogging into a new fitness regimen, because these activities are higher impact and can cause injuries. Also be sure to wear proper running or cross-training footwear when doing any exercises such as walking or jumprope.

Once you increase your physical stamina and fitness, doing jumprope at a high pace can be extremely physically demanding and rewarding, as it works your legs, abdominal, and arm muscles, gives you a great cardiovascular workout, and improves your coordination. If you are in good health, see if you can work your way up to a good fifteen minutes or more of solid jumprope without stopping (if you miss, try to start again right away). A speedrope works best if you want to maximize your workout because your speed is only limited by your own strength and coordination.
