Question: Is it safe for a teen to do a two-day fast!?
i was just wondering because my cousin did it and she lost 6 pounds and she's my age!. is it safe!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's a waste of time and effort!. what you're going to lose in two days is water weight, which you will put back on just as soon as you go back to eating normally!. not to mention that after going two days without eating, you're going to be so hungry that you'll probably binge eat afterwards!.

you'll be hungry and irritable, sluggish because you're body's not getting nutrients it needs for energy, and you'll feel guilty when you eat too much afterwards!. bad idea all around!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is rarely ok to fast!. You should really only do so under a doctor's recommendation!. Fasting is medically recommended for surgery and certain tests!. Most of the time, it's a 12 hour fast only!. Rare circumstances require a 24 hour fast!. But remember, this fasting is for medical requirement only!.

Then there's religious fasting, but this does not go to the extremes of not eating anything!. In Christian beliefs, it's giving up certain things during a period of time (i!.e!., fish instead of meat during Lent)!. Islam has a whole month of fasting!. But this fasting means you don't eat during daylight hours!. After sunset and before sunrise is when they eat their meals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends why you are doing it!. Top loose weight no!. I used to do the 40hour famen all the time when I was a teen, which involved only drinking water and eating barely sugar, which was perfectly ok!. It was for a good cause and the sugar in the barely sugar kept me alert and not tiredWww@Answer-Health@Com

for religion for something to help a cause what bcuz them saying im not gonna eat for two days is bad im surprised they lost six pounds bcuz u lose more weight eating and burning it off then not eating and burning fat off bcuz nutrients in healthy foood helps burn fat i wish teens wouldnt worry bout weight unless the dr tells u ur fat who cares!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

no because your still growing as a teen!. plus you need the nutrition!. you could get into a lot of trouble too like having a seizure, fainting, or the beginning stages of staving yourself!. if you want to loose weight do it the right way, a healthy diet and exerciseWww@Answer-Health@Com
