Can't reach my toes?!

Question: Can't reach my toes!?
I'm 5'9 and 120lbs so as you can see I'm skinny!. For some odd reason I can't get over the fact that I can't touch my toes and it's really bothering me lol!. I've read that I can't because I'm too skinny and my muscles don't stretch or something like that, is that true!? I've tried to reach my toes and when I do I get a minor pain on the back of my knee leg or whatever it's called and on my back and I don't want to force it because I don't want to injure myself!.

Is it impossible for me to reach my toes because of my body shape or can some exercises help me reach it eventually!? If so, can you list the name of the exercises please!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Whatever you read about being "too skinny" is completely wrong!. You cannot reach your toes because you are not flexible!. Flexibility has NOTHING to do with your weight!. I had an overweight yoga instructor, and she was very flexible!.

All you need to do is practice, and your muscles WILL loosen!. Practice this twice a day:
Stand with your feet together!.
Reach for your toes until you feel that pull in the back of your leg!.
Hold 30 seconds!.
Come back up, shake your legs out for 30 seconds!.
Repeat!.

Do that in the morning and evening, and honestly any time you feel like it!. You can also pick up an Ashtanga yoga book to be more flexible all over your body instead of just reaching your toes!

If you are carrying tension in your back (and you likely won't even realize it if it is how you habitually hold your body) it can keep you from touching your toes even if you leg muscles are stretched!. Look into Feldenkrais or dance or something that will help you become more open physically!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have the same problem and the chiropractic said i should stretch out my hamstrings daily and work on it and i should be able to do it in no time!. he told me to lay on the floor, keeping both legs straight, raise one leg for 30 seconds and then the other!. i do this almost every day now and i can just about touch my toes to where it wont hurt anymore

hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the reason you cant touch yo toes is becasue your body is not made for you to touch your toes just think some people could do things others cant but if you realy want to touch your toes practice touch as far as you can every day till one day you touch them sum might be wrong with yo backWww@Answer-Health@Com

simple!.!.!.get stretching bands!. A few $$ at a sports store or walmart!. Start with simple stretching then use the bands to help you bend a little more!. Flexibility is important!. You muscles are only tight because they are being stretched!. Easy fix ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

do yoga to stretch u out and just keep trying to and hold the position until one day u will be able to do itWww@Answer-Health@Com

hang with your fingers reaching toward your toes and just breath deep breaths!. Do this for 5-10 minutes each day (if you want the process to speed up do it two times each day) and DO NOT try to push it to touch your toes, you could pull something!. Also, try sitting on the ground with both legs straight in a big V in front of you!. Tuck one leg in so that the bottom of your foot is touching your other legs inner thigh!. Try to slowly reach toward your toes on the leg that is extended and again keep breathing!. with both stretches reach to a point where you feel strain, but no pain and then just stay there for at least 30 sec until trying to move closer to your toes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

From the sound of it, your body seems to be pretty normal!. It's just that you have not stretched since you are young!. It is suggested that stretching is done daily since young age so when you get older your body is flexible and it is even better for aging!.

But not to worry, it's never to late to start stretching everyday!

I suggest doing the normal everyday stretching as if you're about to go jogging / swimming!.

1!. Sit down and try reaching your toes as far as possible!. Even if you can only reach your knees! Hold this position for 20 seconds!.

2!. Spread your legs!. Try and reach your toes from side to side (20 seconds on each side)!.

3!. Stand up and stretch one leg backwards while bending the front one!. Remember to keep your body straight!. Hold for 20 seconds for each leg!.

Add any other stretching movements as you like!. After about a month you should see improvements not only in your flexibility but in overall health as well!. If you walk a lot, your will realize that your muscles doesn't ache as easily as well!.

Have fun!Www@Answer-Health@Com
