Big butt and thighs, help!!!?!

Question:

Big butt and thighs, help!!!?

okay so i like walk and all, but i still have a big butt and thighs, what excercises could i also do to help slim them down?

everyday, i try to fast walk for at least thirty minutes. also when i am at home (i am at my grandparent's house now) i do at least 100 crunches and at least 10 push-ups, sometimes more, and sometimes i lift weights. i realize you have to focus on looseing weight from your entire body, not just one part.

my legs have a lot of cellulite and fat and it is really ugly, should i start running too?

i went to the doctor the other day and i was 140, i would like to be around 130 by the time school starts. i have a big build, so anything less than 120 would be too much. i'm also about 5'5(1/2)" and 14 years old. the bmi says i'm at a healthy weight, but my bmi is 23.2.

Hi

Teenage years are funny. Sometimes your hormones can work against your best efforts.

But here is my advice, because I went through a time as a teenager when I was overweight.

1. Look at your diet. The South Beach Diet books, for example, are helpful for finding good food that doesn't have near as many calories. The other thing you can do if you're eating large portions is to cut the amount you usually eat in half OR spread out your food intake over the course of the day. It is NOT good for your body to just stop eating. It is actually better to keep eating a steady stream of smaller portions throughout the day (healthy foods like fresh vegetables are preferable - fresh veggies are good for all of your organ systems including your brain - they can be hard to get used to - but they taste better and better ) This keeps your metabolism going and burning calories all day.

2. Exercise - I actually ran quite a bit when I was trying to lose weight. It is important to get a good sweat going when you are working out. Then you know you are truly burning calories. If you can use a treadmill, that is usually better than running outside since it is less impact on your joints. Start slow. Don't go crazy and try to go 5 miles on your first run. I've seen varying opinions on biking - some say it will decrease the size of your thighs, hips and buttocks - some say it will make those areas overly muscular and thus more prominent.
Swimming is also an option - it is low impact and less likely to make those areas overly muscular.

3. Believe you will attain your goals. State of mind is very important. You can even focus on firming your tummy and hip/thigh areas as you are walking / hanging out during the day. Meditation and visualizing your goals can also be powerful tools.

I hope this helps.
