Begginer yoga question?!

Begginer yoga question?

I have just started trying yoga positions everyday but i have a problem.
When i do a downward dog position my heels cant touch the ground, is it because im too tall? I'm 6'1 or am i just not flexible yet is yoga only for shorter people?


Answers:

Its normal that you can't touch your heels at first. I've been at it for years and usually can't get them to touch. Your hamstrings and calves will stretch over time, so don't worry about getting into a certain "ideal" pose. Make sure you get your alignment right and over time you will probably move past where you thought your limits were.

I think the key is to find a good teacher who can motivate and guide you. CD's are good but the personal touch makes a world of difference.
