Answers:
My personal opinion is that stretching is an essential first step to take prior to weight loss exercise programs or any other exercise----even before long walks as well as at the end of the walk and in participation sports the same applies!. It is great for toning and limbering for greater flexibility!. When you stretch you are elongating tendons and giving them the chance to stay long and lean and not become brittle (tight, and fixed to a contracted position not easily corrected and at times not possible to be corrected--such as in stroke patients)!. Stretching helps prevent contraction and cramping of muscles after and during exercise and muscle building!. Stretching is a gentle way to prep your body for optimal benefits during exercise and muscle building and gets your heart (your essential muscle!) ready to endure aerobic exercise as well!.

By now you can see that I am sold on the "Stretching" theory for overall body health and as a preliminary setup step that will launch you into being more motivated to lose weight through a greater variety of exercise!. Being limber, and having muscles pliable, yet firm, also allow natural chemical flow to reach better levels and be more able to go where they need to go!.

So stretch before, intermittently if doing a variety of different movement exercise, and after!. Even before and after setting down to watch television, read a good book, do house work, gardening, typing, study, swim, etc!., etc!., etc!.)!. It will prep your muscles to endure greater amounts of exercise and varieties of movement by allowing greater amounts of blood and oxygen circulation which will gradually increase your metabolism to a healthier level that will help with weight loss and consistent mind-set motivation!. So stretch, stay limber, exercise according to your
