Question:

What are some good exercises(that do not require equipment) for burning fat and tightening the butt/thighs?

Answers:

You don't need any equipment to get a good, tight body. Although having some equipment can help you change your routine around a bit it is just a nicety not a necessity.

The burning of fat requires cardio. A good cardio workout can be a simple as a 45 minute brisk walk or a good game of racquetball. If you have not worked out for a while start with walking for 30 minutes. Then as the days go by walk a bit faster and walk a bit longer (45 minutes). After a few weeks you can start to move your arms more when you walk and also do 15 second intense mini-workouts. To do a mini-workout you would walk for 15 minutes, then stand in one spot and lift your knees one at a time as high as you can. Do this for 15 seconds. Then continue your walk. Do this every 15 minutes. Once you get aerobically fit you can run in place for the 15 seconds in stead of just raising your knees.

This 15 second blast really puts the body into high gear and you should gradually work up to it. I know that 15 seconds does not sound like much but it really is. After walking for a few months you can work up to a 2-3 minute mini-workout.

Walking will help shape the butt and thighs and help burn off fat. If you want to target your thighs, you can do walking lunges and squats. If your outer thighs are the issue do side leg lifts daily. Work up to 100 per day. Within 30 days you will see a big change in your thighs.

Don't forget that you can also do dozens of floor exercises like the bicycle and reverse crunches to strengthen your midsection.

Try to move as much as you can during the day. If you watch TV, exercise during the commercials instead of looking in the kitchen for snacks. Walk whenever possible instead of riding in a car.

Since summer is upon us now make sure that you always stay hydrated, and walk outside only during the cooler hours and never during the hottest part of the day. If you take 2 water bottles with you, you can use them as weights as you walk plus you'll be able to drink as needed.

You can also look up isometric exercises. These are exercises that use your own body strength against itself and you can get an amazing workout quickly, with not much sweating and the only equipment needed are your own muscles.
