Question: I'm 14, how come i gain weight so easily!?
I've been dieting since i was 10, and whenever i slip i gain several pounds! I'm a vegan and i never eat dairy or meat!. WHY does this happen!? WHY can't i be like every other kid and eat icecream and pancakes every day!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

What you need to do is first make sure you eat your basic food groups and plus you need to build your metabolism up, start working out a little and maybe weight lift, and in meal amounts don't eat a whole big meal for every meal time, as in dont have a big breakfast, lunch, or dinner, eat in a good quantity to the point that you are satisfied but not to the point where you are full and have like 5 meals a day, but remember to build your metabolism you need to eat a fair amount every meal not too much or too little, because in order for your metabolism to rise your body needs to get used to building and making more acid for your stomach to digest the food, when you eat too much the food sits and has to wait for more acid so then the body stores the food as more energy for later or which is called fat!. So eat a good serving of food, not too much for 5 meals a day so your body can get used to burning food more!. Hope this helps like it did me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

stop being so hard on yourself!. You need to stop dieting! Diets do not work because they are too restrictive and cause you to want all the foods you deprive yourself of!.

Eat healthy and exercise!. Everything in moderation!. While eating ice cream and pancakes everyday is not the best idea, once a week will not hurt you provided you eat healthy most of the time and get exercise!.

Are you vegan because of morals or because you think animals products are bad for you!? If because of morals make sure your diet is including adequate protein and if not then include lean meat products and dairy into your diet - they are good for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe it's your metabolism, which you can't do much about!. Do you exercise a lot!? If you ate ice cream or something sweet but fattening, try not to eat much of anything else!. Then you can enjoy your meal while not gaining =D!. I gain weight easily, too, so I try not to eat a lot either!. But I don't think I've had to say no to ice cream before!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

im sorry :[ i feel for you!. but really, when you look back on your life, you're not going to think 'aw, man, those were the days, when i was 14!.!. eating ice cream and hamburgers!.!.!.!.' Could be genetically inherited trait!. Is one of your father or mother, fat!? You could be eating at the wrong times like late at night which isn't good if you're trying to lose weight!. Do you exercise!? Do you eat too much even though it is "healthy" food!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm the same way, but I'm not vegan!. You probably just have a slower metabolism than the everyone else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its called exercise!. Everyday for atleast an hour and a half!. Meat helps gain protein you need so you grow more muscle which burns more fat!Www@Answer-Health@Com

get your thyroid checked!.!.!.my grandma has a thyroid problem and gains weight sooo easily!. go get a test to make sure its ok (it can happen to anyone, not just the elderly)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello, I'm sorry that you're having troubles, I remember feeling that way when I was 14 as well!.

First I would like to say that it's awesome that you're vegan!. I'm a vegan too and have been for the past 8 years!. As a vegan you CAN enjoy pancakes and ice cream! There are many non-dairy alternatives to these things :) If you need resources for information might I suggest a few sites:

Okay other than vegan support, when considering your weight please think of this!.!.

You are still 14!.!.!. You're still growing! You won't finish growing until between 16 - 19 and I think there's even another growthspurt after that!.!.!. So please don't measure your fitness by your weight!.

I'm not sure if you really have a fitness problem or if you're just worried about your weight, but the best thing to do is talk to a doctor, your gym teacher, your health teacher or someone near you who can help you if you have a problem!. If you're not physically out of shape and you're just concerned about the way you look - try not to worry about it too much!.

I know that's hard to listen to, but trust me on this!. Don't waste your time worrying about what you look like, just go and have fun! Get active and eat healthy, treat your body well and your body will thank you for it :) If you choose to continue dieting and exercise try this!.!.

Eat balanced meals!. Grains, fruit, soymilk, etc in the morning!. Vegetables and carbs for lunch and more vegetables and protein for dinner!. Eat a balanced meal and you will lose weight - stressing about diet only keeps you from losing weight because when you're stressed your body stores fat!.!.!. so stop worrying! :-P And exercise 3 - 4 hours a week!.
