Chocolate when losing weight?

Friends tell me chocolate is good when you`re tired. I usually work a lot and need energy but I`m also on a diet. If I eat chocolate when I`m running out of batteries, will it make me feel better or just “help” me put some extra pounds? I`m not overweight but I’d like to maintain a healthy weight.
