Problems with scoliosis and exercise?

I'm 21 years old and have had scoliosis since I was 15. I've found that doing certain exercises hurts my back a lot. I was wondering if anyone knows of any exercises I can do to maintain my toned abs without hurting my back? Also I've noticed that my knees hurt if I'm doing a lot of pounding on them like running or doing weightlifting with my legs. Any suggestions on what kind of exercises I can do to keep fit would be very much appreciated!

that sounds frustrating. i like pilates for strengthening, and I just don't do the stuff that hurts. if you can, it really helps to see a physical therapist who can teach you anti-scoliotic exercises. its not something i can tell you to do because you would need to be assessed. the P.T. can help you design a full work-out based on your needs. good luck!
