I get headaches while working out?!

Question:

I get headaches while working out?

I've been trying to get back into shape...I was a very skinny girl...120 lbs at 5 foot 8...Now that I have 2 kids and I'm a stay at home mom, I've been trying to get back down to 140. I am currently at 160 (something). I feel fat, I feel like I look pregnant. I've been trying to watch what I eat which seems to be a lot harder than it sounds. and I do situps and crunches and stretches...and 2-3 times a week I do a Tae-bo workout. When I'm doing the crunches, my neck hurts bad! No matter how I try to reposition myself it still seems that my neck muscles are being strained. I almost always get a headache during the workouts. I try to drink water most of the day although I do drink the occasional pepsi and I drink a lot of hot tea throughout the day and 1-2 cups of coffee in the evening. Any suggestions?

Answers:

It seems as though the headaches are coming from the straining in the neck. You could have some muscle tension from both sleeping and exercising. Anything that affects the neck can create headaches. Maybe you are putting too much pressure on the back of the neck when doing the sit-ups and crunches. Cross you arms over your chest when doing crunches and place you hands on the side of your head when doing situps. Ride a bike for 30 minutes or walk 30 minutes a day to change up the routine. Godd luck.
