i hate these pounds but don't know how to lose them. so if you can help please do.


Answers:

First of all, don't go on a diet at your age. This is what I tell my students:

1. Eat normal sized meals, but try to make healthier choices (baked potato, vs. french fries) and try to eat enough but not too much.

2. Drink lots of water. Keep hydrated, but avoid drinks with too much sodium, like sodas and gatorade, as these can make you retain fluids and cause you to weigh more.

3. Walk. If you're not particularly athletic, try walking around. Don't lie down when you can sit, don't sit when you can stand, and don't stand when you can walk around. The more active you are, the more calories you burn.

4. Don't judge your weight based on others' appearance. 145 may be right for you and your body type while 115 might be right for another but wrong for you. As long as you are within the weight limits for your age and height, don't stress.

5. If you are outside the health limits, try to reduce your intake of fats, oils etc. Try eating some things low-fat for a while (don't go overboard; your body needs fats to function properly) and try to take up an activity you like, whether it is a sport, aerobics, dance, weights, swimming, yoga, etc.
