Is it ok for me to run tomorrow although I have sore muscles?!

Question:

Is it ok for me to run tomorrow although I have sore muscles?

I just finished running Lake Merced in San Francisco yesterday (4.5 miles long), and I did light weight training for about 30 minutes. Today I am a little sore around my midback area, will it be ok for me to run Lake Merced again tomorrow? I really want to work out. I have heard of "no pain, no gain" but I don't want to have what people are saying called "microtears" in my muscles. Btw, I have ran Lake Merced for the past 3 weeks once every week. So I've been working out for a while now, I guess you could say? Thanks!

Answers:

normally it's necessary to let your muscles rest for 72 hours after vigorous excersize. but if it's just running that you're doing, i'd say it's fine to continue. my favorite motto is "no pain, no gain," and your muscles being sore is a sign of hard work.. at least in my opinion. as long as it won't hurt yourself to run then go right ahead and keep it up :)
