Creatine use for 16 year old, safe???no??!

Question:

Creatine use for 16 year old, safe???no??

6'2" /16 yrs old, 140 lbs. Is it safe to take creatine? Pros and cons? Don't give the "good doctor's" answer where your trying to keep me from the gateway to steroids, just is it safe or not. Creatine's not addictive and steroids make the balls shrink.

Answers:

it should be fine as long as you don't abuse it....5-10 grams a day is all you need. Any more is worthless as your body is only able to assimilate this amount into your muscles cells. Some studies have shown that amounts higher than this can have adverse affects on tendons and muscles leading to tears and such. But no creatine is a naturally occurring substance in the body ( and also found in smaller amounts in the foods you such such as steak an beef) so using it in moderation wont have any adverse effects

Also dont leave it in water or liquid as advised by an earlier post...creatine is not chemically stable and can convert to creanine which is potentially harmful. Best advice would be to purchase straight creatine monohydrate and mix it with a drink high in simple carbohydrates ( high sugar content) and consume 30 mins before and after your workout. The simple carbs will lead to an insulin spike which in turn will help the creatine pass by the cell membrane into the cell. Mixing it with plain water will not achieve this.
