Which is a better ab workout, crunches or sit ups?!


Question: Which is a better ab workout, crunches or sit ups!?
Because I don't do sit ups, just crunches and other ab exercises!. Sit ups bother me, they irritate the coccyx part of my back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Crunches target the abdominals more and have replaced situps as a superior abdominal exercise!. The problem with situps is that they recruit other muscle groups too much, such as hip flexors, quads and even erector spinae (back) muscles, so you're not targeting abs nearly as much!. Plus the incidence of injury is higher with traditional situps compared to crunches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't do sit up's unless your lying down on a soft mat, and only do 2 sets max!.
Sit up's just put to much pressure on your back and spine and this will lead to injury!.
Stick to doing as many crunches as you can, these may look weak but they sure do the job and also try going down on your back, raising your legs 90 degrees in the air then touch your toes with your fingers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

V-ups
-you lay flat on your back
-that simultaneously (bare with me i suck at spelling) pull both your legs and upper body up
-keep everything straight and tight and make sure your shoulders come up and your head is neutral
-repeat
this should work your lower abs too!. and maybe do it on like a yoga or panel mat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i'd suggest a variety!.!.!. don't do just one thing bc your body will get used to it and it will stop being productive!.

crunches, they can be done vertically or lying of your side , they put less stress on the back and create leass muscle damage and more muscle growth than situps by isolating the abs and creating better quality muscle fibre!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sit ups, because they work all of your stomach muscles, unlike crunches, which only work half!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
