Answers:
Yes, actually one of the criteria to be diagnosed for anorexia is having lost a lot of weight like 1/4 of initial weight and it being below the BMI is considered to be lean and healthy without any medical reason for it!.
Excessive preoccupation of your weight and consuming less 1000 calories in order to lose weight is also a common sign of anorexia!.The people with both eating disorders have a distorted body image and despite being emacipated, view themselves either being too fat or have the "perfect body" and won't listen to anyone that they are very ill and some close to death's door!.
Bulimia is eating then purging either through laxatives, excessive exercising and vomiting!. This can be either done in a compulsive way or either controlled!. That means either bulimics have this need to throw up all the time and it becomes like a habit, while others do it when they feel the need too, like before going to a party or a wedding!. Both are really bad for your health and become quite destructive!. Both types are also vey obsessed with their weight and go through great lengths to hide their illness and most are ashamed of it!.
Also have missed a few menstrual cycles , sometimes even premature menapause hair loss , growing hair in the face, legs and arms, low blood pressure , cardia arrest in some cases causing death among other things are affects of anorexia nervosa and bulimia!. Bulimics more than anorexics suffer from gastric problems (all the acid of the bile of the stomach that comes up when you vomit on a daily basis or more) and have tooth decay (although Anorexic also lose teeth at times because the malnutrition)
If you suspect someone close to you is sick, have them see a soctor for a diagnosis and to get therapy!. They might refuse but you got to keep on trying!. The longer the illness goes on, the higher chances that they will have more serious health problems or even death!. As the body shrinks, so does the internal organs, which can fail, especially the heart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
