Why Does It Take Less Energy To Jog On A Treadmill?!

Question:

Why Does It Take Less Energy To Jog On A Treadmill?

Or am I just imaging it does? Does this mean if I can jog 2 miles in 20 minutes on a treadmill for example, but I wouldn't be able to in a park with the same effort?

Answers:

Because the treadmill is moving under your feet already,,it moves you if you just stand there, giving no effort.
