Will an exercise bike help loose weight, not gain muscle?!


Question: Will an exercise bike help loose weight, not gain muscle!?
If i carry on doing 30 minutes on the exercise bike each day, will this help me achieve thinner thighs!?
I don't want larger thighs with muscle, just thinner thighs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Macca, Dora and Rob are right; how you use the bike will affect what it does to your legs!.

If you 'KICK' the pedals, working really hard to turn them against strong resistance, then the exercise is a bit like working with heavy weights!. This will build some extra muscle!.

(Any fat you have on your legs will 'smooth' the shape of this new muscle mass, so you won't necessarily look 'bulky'!.)

If you 'SPIN' the pedals, working (GENTLY) at high RPM against light resistance, you will be able to keep going for a long period of time and burn fat off!. Working harder at high speed is a waste of time, because the extra effort ONLY burns extra sugar (NOT fat), and makes you tired and hungry!.

Burning off fat CAN make your legs look 'buky' or 'blokey', because the shape of your leg muscles will become more visible if you have less fat to conceal them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will help you loose wait but at the same time it gives you muscles in your lower legs but that will not make you look larger it will just give you a bigger frame if you want to loose more wait go to the gym and do 40 minute cardio a day eat three meals a day all with less than 10% fat in it with no snaks intertwine try not to drink loads it just makes you put on more weight whit can will give you a beer belly i done this for about 1 month and was 11stone when i started and now im 8stone this is what can happen if you keep it up !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You don't have to worry about getting big bulky muscles!. What you'll end up with is strong "lean" muscles!. And yes, your thighs will get thinner!. I emphasize "lean" because we all have muscle, we all want muscle, but most women want a "lean" look!. That's what bike riding gives us!.


Edited to add: Women can get well-defined muscles but despite all the myths and mis-information out there, women CANNOT get bulky - not even with weight training, UNLESS they use steroids or other similar drugs!. Our bodies simply do not make enough testosterone to bulk up like a man!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes if you are don't have the tension too high!. You need to use it more as cardio than weight bearing!. Toning of the muscles is a good thing but you don't want them bulging!. A bike is a good idea but you also need to ensure your diet is good!. Just don't use weights in conjuction and you will be right!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best way to loose weight is to gain muscle!. 1lb of fat burns something like 5 calories per day whereas 1lb of muscle burns 50 per day!. Eat the same gain a bit of muscle and bobs your uncle you will start looseing fat and look more toned!. I have just been learning this in a progression Diploma Course and am going to try it myself!. Lower the resistance a little and increase the speed and/or time of your exercise!.

A basic rule is;
Less Weight/Resistance more repeitition in one set for toning
More Weight/Resistance less repetition in one set for buildingWww@Answer-Health@Com

It may help!. Though dont judge by the scales!. Muslces are heavy!. Therefore, any muscles you do gain wont make you weigh less!.

I would suggest that walks help to get thinner thighs!. Where as an excerise bike will make you muscular!.
