Because the BMI chart is imperfect!. It doesn't measure body fat!. So, go and have that measured!. I myself am at the very top limit of what I "should" weight, according to BMI!. Yet my body fat is under 20, which is way low for a woman my age!. I workout every day, so I keep my body fat low!. I look smaller than other women who weigh what I do (and are as tall as I) because most women my height and weight have a higher percentage of body fat!. It would be worth it to you to find out what your body fat is!. Go by your fitness level, not what some chart tells you!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have very little body fat, then you must be very muscular!.

At 5' 7" and 200 pounds that's pretty bulky!. Muscle does way more than fat so if you have large muscles then that explains why you weigh so much!.

But if you put those figures in to an online or other weight measuring thing, it'll read as over weight!. Because normally a person is usually the other way around in that they have higher body fat and less muscle, so a person who weighs 200 pounds and only stands 5' 7" is considered over weight!.

The best thing is to have your body fat measured with calipers and also go by your waist line!. If you waist is larger than your hips then you are overweight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

a BMI (body mass index) only works for the "average" body!. Athletic people don't fit the model very well!.

A better measurement is your waist!. Your waist should be half your height (roughly), so 33 inches is a good target!. A bigger frame/more muscle/big bones won't increase your waist more than an inch or so-- look at the narrow waists on big hulking body builders or football players!. If your waist size is too big, then yes, you're overweight!.

If you already exercise a lot (and it sounds like you do) a few diet changes will fix things easily!.
1- more non-starchy vegetables!.!.!. half of your plate at every meal is a good plan!.
2- more fruits
3- more lean meats
4- less (or none) fried food, sugar, soda (diet or regular), juice and refined flour (white bread/rice/pasta)

If it seems like too much all at once start slowly and add 1 healthy change per month!. For the first month add 2 pieces of fruit per day to your diet!.!.!. a banana with breakfast and an apple in the afternoon for example!.

Next month drop soda, the next add 1 or 2 servings of vegetables to lunch/supper!. Add the healthy habits slowly, 1 per month to give yourself time to get used to them!.

Oh, and remember you can cheat once in a while!.!.!. 2 or 3 cheat meals a week is fine!.!.!. you'd be eating healthy 90% of the time (figuring 20 meals/week)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is true that muscle weighs more than fat does!. Most of the body weight mass calculators are set for more sedentry persons, not those that workout regularly with weights and running!.

It is supposed to be the "ideal" weights of people, but since none of us is the "ideal" person, none of us should be paying that much attention to these charts, especially if we are athlethic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's because your BMI index should be in the range of 121-159!. Below or above that is unhealthy!. Slightly above or below is not unhealthy!. For instance, if your genetics are naturally bigger boned, then give or take a few pounds above the standard BMI!. You are way above, which could lead to health problems!.

Eat healthier and exercise more often!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because you are large framed and muscular!.

If you are a 5ft7 guy of 200lb with 16% body fat, you will look much leaner/fitter than a 5ft7 guy of 200lb and 26% body fat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
