Metabolism is the rate at which your body uses energy to create heat!. If you have a high metabolic rate, you will use a lot of calories to just keep your body warm and moving around!. When your body encounters starvation conditions, i!.e!. a famine, the metabolic rate at which your body burns food to make heat, changes, it 'learns' to get by on less food!.

The fat stores are very precious to the body, it would rather break down muscles for energy first, and that is why people feel weak when they don't eat!. When the muscles are compromised in this way, there is less of them to burn fuel, and so even when the body receives food normally, there is now less muscle to burn it off!.

That is why so many people who go on starvation diets end up fatter than ever, because they damage their muscles and metabolism!. The only answer to losing weight is to eat high class proteins, fruit and vegetables, limit carbohydrates and drink plenty of unadulterated fluids while moving around a bit more and taking up activities that you enjoy!.

The piont is not to obsess about food but to increase your enjoyment of life, and do things because you want to, and not think too much about your wieght!. If you only ever plan to enjoy life when you are slim enough, it will never happen!. If food can be enjoyed when you are hungry and burned off doing things you love doing, then you will get a proper balance and put food in the place it should be, as something to enjoy as part of life!.

Oh and by the way, the metabolic rate is not damaged for life!. You can increase the metabolic rate with REGULAR exercise, which will also restore muscle tone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
