Stretching and frequency?!

Question: Stretching and frequency!?
I have been using a certain plan when it comes to stretching and have noticed that I have some soreness in the muscles that I stretched the day before!. My plan would be to divide the day into quarters!. I stretch certain isolated muscle groups for 1 minute with medium to high pain from the stretching!. I do this 4 times daily!.
I have been told by some people that stretching should not hurt if you are only doing it before exercise to prevent injury but others tell me that if you are going for flexibility, (as I currently am,) to make sure it hurts!. I am not sure who is correct!.

My question is this: Because of soreness caused by the stretching, should I give a day or so to let my muscles rest as one would with other exercises of a different nature!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First, if you stretch to medium or high pain, you're straining your muscles!. That's where the soreness comes in!. Stretching is not like exercise, where in exercise you want the burn!. Stretching should be slower, gentle, and relaxing!.

Increasing flexibility has the same rules!. DON'T stretch where it hurts badly, you're injuring yourself!. Stretch until you feel a slight pull and a little pressure and hold that for 30 full seconds!. Slowly ease out of the stretch and go back into it and hold for 30 seconds!. If you do that twice a day for your muscle groups, you will see tremendous gains in flexibility!.

The soreness is from damaged muscles!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Warm Up First
Muscle stretching shouldn't be your starting warmup!. Warm up first with a few minutes of walking, cycling, etc!., then stretch!. You can also do stretching exercises at the end of your cardio workout!. Stretching cold muscles can cause injuries!. There is also some research indicating that a lot of stretching can cause a short-term dip in muscle strength, so for weight training, save your serious stretching for after the workout!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
