God! I feel so sorry for this child! If you want to help him see if you can get him up and moving!? Moving around should help him lose weight!? Once he's able to get around some maybe talk to him and walk with him a little bit!. "whatever amount he can handle!?" The talking will make him feel better emotionally and the walking will help him physically!. Ask him in a nice way to stop drinking pop and replace it with water!. Dustin is probably showing his grief by filling his self with food because food makes you feel comfortable inside and I'm sure with a father gone he doesn't feel much comfort inside!. What I don't want you to do is take all his problems with losing weight on your shoulders his mom must also do something to help her son!. If your helping and his mom is allow him to stuff his self you can't help him now can you!? She probably should find a place where her son can go to talk about his dad's death!. He doesn't have to go to a therapist the are churches and other organizations that help people deal with grief for free!. His mom just has to do some looking around in the phone book or on the Internet!. Just between you and me she should have done something way before things got so bad!. His family doctor needs to get involved in his problems!. He needs a team of people to help him mom, grief counselor, doctor or doctors and if you choose to help you can also be part of that team!? But again you alone can't "fix" him!. I also wish you the best of luck helping your friend {{{ Hugz }}} :o)Www@Answer-Health@Com

he needs to see a psychiatrist!. he needs a complete programme of medication, therapy, diet and exercise!. by pros!. all you can do is befriend him!. ask your mom to give his mom the advice!. you should just do fun stuff with him, so he finds a reason to live! but yes get your mom to talk to his about getting help !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I see nothing wrong with trying to be his friend and help him out!. work out together!.!.!.play some sports!.!.!.or just hand out!.!.!.!.
He needs something to help with his depression!. Yes, some mental help he needs but also a good friend!. Just DO NOT feel like you HAVE to do it!.!.!.!.and dont feel like you should dedicate ALL of your time on him, then he's gonna depend on you and you dont want that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I really don't know what to say to you except stay away from fat peoples problems, they are like that because they are unhappy, and you telling them that losing weight will fix it is like me trying to tell you how to run someone else's life!. Poor little bugga!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Careful here - he is not your responsibility!. His mother should be doing this, not you!. She is likely the one feeding him, and enabling him!. I would stay away from this!. Or at the very least, ask your mother what she thinks you could - or should - do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well i think you should help him losse some weigth and you should be friends with him cause no matter what he looks like he is still a humanWww@Answer-Health@Com

if he is 14 and weighs 500lbs your in no position to help him lose weight , just be his friend , he needs professional help !Www@Answer-Health@Com

see this site http://weightloss4all!.tblog!.com/ it may help him refer it to his mother too!. she can convey her in a much better way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it would be a wonderful idea to help him!. From the description you gave of his life experiences, he is most likely experiencing a bad depression!.
It's always hard to go through things alone, so you being there for him and helping him, motivating him would just be so great!. Just talk to him, get to know him first, you have to gain his trust first!. Once you two are friends, do little things, invite him to your house, just the effort and all that would take him to get up and to the car, to your house, etc, is a lot of exercise!. Maybe playing ping pong, pool, just activities where there isnt a lot of walking, but where he can atleast work out his arms, get his heart rate going! More than likely he doesnt get any physical activity at all, so really any little thing will help!. You can help him eat more healthy too!. I think just being his friend will help a lot, even if you can't exactly help him lose weight!. His mom definitely needs to take him to a Dr, so they can help him lose weight, help him exercise, eat right!. Maybe even look into getting a lapband!. At 500 lbs, he is in SERIOUS risk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
