How do I lose 25 - 50 Pounds by August (Middle of December at the latest)?!

Question:

How do I lose 25 - 50 Pounds by August (Middle of December at the latest)?

I am a cheerleader and I am very over weight. I really want to lose the weight for my squad. I need to lose at least 25 lbs. by the middle of December because that is around the time of our first game. That is my goal at least, but I will take what I can get. My ultimate goal is to lose 45 - 50 lbs by next May - September (Summer Vacation). Here are my stats, so you know more about me:
-- I'm 14
-- I weigh 175 lbs.
-- I'm 5' 2 1/2"
-- I'm not very active (Besides Cheering, I need to change that.)

I am willing to take any do most anything (except take pills or get lipo (obviously)).

Please give me somthing to work with. Please tell me all of your ideas, I really need help. I will apresiate any answer that I think can help me, or gives me Ideas. I will also pick my best answer on that.

Thank you very much,
-- Paige

By the way I live in a very small town and we dont have many things around. We have Curves but I think that I am too young to join. We dont have Weight Watchers, dont you think that I have thought of that.

Answers:

The best way to lose weight is by counting calories and exercise. Start off by walking a mile each day. It burns calories, but more than anything it gets you in the habit of moving. The more active you are, the more energy you have, and overall you eat less. Also, start keeping a food journal of everything that touches your mouth. Start off by replacing just 1 soda every day with a bottle of water. At the end of the week you will have cut 1100 calories from your diet. That's like not eating for almost an entire day! Also have a glass of water before dinner. You will eat much less.

Shape magazine has a really good formula to calculate how many calories you should be taking in.
