Question: I do 100 pushups at night if i increase by 5 every night will i grow new muscle!?
Answers:
You will see gains in both strength and mass if you continue to do pushups for long enough!.

However, doing only pushups is not the best way to get bigger!. The best way to get bigger would be a weight lifting program, with a healthy diet!.

Also, there are a lot of exercises that can be done at home besides pushups!. I wouldn't spend all of my time on one exercise!.

If you want to get the most out of your pushups though, you should use pushup handles or something that lifts you a bit off the ground!. That way you get more stretch and range of movement!. Form is very important, keeping a strict form can't be over-emphasized!. Also, you should vary your speed and hand position when doing different sets of pushups!. You'll find that doing 20 really slow pushups can be much harder than doing 50 quick ones, and hands closer together works the chest a bit differently than a wide grip!.

If you wore a weighted vest, or somehow added weight to your pushups - you would see size increases more quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off, you shouldn't be doing them at night!. Exercising and then going to bed not only upsets your sleeping pattern, but it also relaxes the muscles to quickly, and progress is not seen as it would be if you were active after you exercised!.But if you are wondering if you will grow new muscle, yeas AND no!. Pushups do not awaken as much muscle fibers as other exercises do!. Pushups serve more to tighten up the chest and harden the muscle you already have!. I would suggest other exercises for muscle growth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Your strength and stamina will continue to increase, but your not going to grow "new" muscle!.

If you want a size increase in the muscle you have you need to add resistance (weight) to the workout, not repetitions!.

Try the same push ups with a back pack full of books!.

Lift your feet to shoulder height (the edge of your bed or chair) can change the angle the muscle is worked at and stimulate growth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sure, but that is mostly endurance work, which isn't the best for building muscle!.

Think about endurance athletes (marathoners, swimmers, etc!.)!. They are all relatively weak looking!. But if you look at sprinters you will see they look much stronger!.

The point I am making is that you need to workout with heavier weights for fewer reps if you want serious muscle size!.

Your weak muscle that you have!. will continue to grow by pushups!. pushups work your abs to, maybe you should try lifting, there are many things you can do with weights!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't just grow a muscle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You'll get stronger, but if your goal is to get bigger-no!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
