Question:

Is this a healthy diet?? Please comment....?

I'm a long distance runner...

Pre-workout breakfast-5 a.m (b/f morning run) 3 slices of toast w/ 1/2 tbs low-fat margarine & sprinkled cinnamon sugar

Post-workout breakfast-9 a.m.-2/3 cup dry instant oatmeal + water w/ either 3 tsp brown sugar OR tbs peanut butter

Lunch (b/t 12 & 1 p.m.)-Salad with tuna OR bowl of soup OR turkey sandwich OR PB&J (I like to alternate-will PB&J's make me gain weight?)

4 p.m.-snack-fruit (like apple or banana w/ reduced-fat cheese cubes or almonds)

Afternoon workout

7p.m.-dinner-lean meat, veggies,brown rice

9 p.m.-1 serving healthy cereal (like special k) w/ 1/2 cup skim milk

Answers:

Looks good. To take it up a notch, try:

Try adding a couple of soft boiled eggs or a couple of ounces of fish or Chicken to the post workout... to aid in recovery.

Steel cut oatmeal that you prepare the night before is healthier than instant.

PB&J can add fat, because of the fat in PB and the extra carbs in Jelly

But if you are lean and happy with your weight, stick with it.

IF you want to cut about 5 pounds, you could try these changes for two weeks to see the result... and go back, if it didn't help...

One more thing... get hold of some very high quality omega-3 fish oil, and take it when you first wakeup.
