650 Calories A day Diet.?!

Question: 650 Calories A day Diet!.!?
Hiya all!.

Im a 25 year old male and currently weight 14 stone!. For the past 3 weeks Ive been consuming around 650 calories per day Monday - Friday (and a bit more on weekends probably around 1800 calories) and have lost just over 1 stone!.

I generally have an apple for breakfast, orange for a morning break, a cuppa soup for lunch and then I have a healthy low calorie evening meal (something like to veg, grilled fish and mash potatoes) and then have another orange later on, drinking plenty of water throughout the day!.

During the day I dont feel tired / lathargic, irratable, hungry, etc and considering I am eating healthy foods throughout the day is this a sustainable diet that I am following!.

Thanks for any advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
NO NO NO!!!!! One thing you have to understand is that if you don't consume at least 1,500 calories a day, you will not get the nutrients and energy you need!. The food you are eating is excellent, just a little more of it please, especially as you are male and need much more protein than this diet provides!.

Be sure, at every meal to have at least one portion of protein, be it animal or vegetable!. Quinoa is very useful for this as it's a food high in protein and can be eaten by vegetarians!. The fruits and veggies you're having now are really good for you, just up the protein a little, and avoid consuming carbohydrates unless they are accompanied by a protein source!. Use only natural oils and butter and as much as possible avoid hydrogenated vegetable oils and trans fatty acids in EVERYTHING you eat!. Trans fatty acids cling to the sides of your arteries and are worse than saturated fats for your heart!.

This means you're going to have to give up packet soups, as they contain a lot of hydrogenated fat!. Replace with home made soup if you can!. A good alternative is miso soup, which you can get form your local health food shop!. Your fliud intake is good, just don't forget that your sodium intake has to remain stable and a deficiency can lead to nausea and headaches!. Sodium is needed to maintain the protective membrane around your brain!.

There is also the problem of metablolism!. In famine conditions, (and your body will consider less than 1,000 calories a day to be starvation), your metabolism will change, and your body 'learns' to get by on less calories!. The only way to maintain your metabolic rate is to exercise regularly!.

You've lost a stone, but unless you are exercising vigourously, your body will be breaking down muscle tissue for energy!. The body considers it's fat stores too precious for this!. As muscle is denser than fat, the scales will be registering weight loss, but much of that will be broken down muscle tissue and not a loss of fat!.

A better way to monitor your weight loss is with a tape measure!. Don't rely on BMI ratings to give you an accurate measure of your body fat ratio, as it doesn't account for the fact that males have more muscle tissue, and should wiegh more to account for this!. Most of the Gladiators would be considered obese under BMI ratings!.

Up your protein intake and do weight bearing exercises to build and tone your muscles!. Muscle tissue burns calories, and helps with your weight loss, maintaining your metabolic rate!. Find an activity that you enjoy and indulge yourself in it at least two to three times a week, so that you are breathless and sweaty!. My activity is danciing, but yours can be anything you have a passion for!.

It's so good that you are looking after your health and watching your weight!. Be proud of yourself for what you have achieved so far, but be sure you're not sacrificing your future health with this diet!. If you don't maintain your muscle tone, you are only storing up problems for later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good luck mate :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know some one who did what your doing but you need more calories (you need at least 1200 to keep your body from going into starvation mode)!. Other than that you need to do some exercise!. The guy i know that did this was 35 and he lost about 5 stone but he also started jogging every other day, so maybe try that or join the gym!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

wheres the carbs!? and exercise!? you have more then just a 'bit' more on weekends like over 1000 calories, you need more than 650 cals a day! thats not enough and its good how you dont feel tired or hungry living on hardly any calories aday!.
you need to do exercise and then that way you can eat plenty more which will be much more healthier!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to eat some healthy carbs!. e!.g:
a small bowl of porridge oats instead of the apple
a slice of whole meal toast with the soup or a whole meal sandwich
brown pasta, muesli, rice!.!.!.!.

what will happen is that you will gain weight when you stop this diet!.
i think you should eat more and start exercising!.
i also think you shouldnt replace meals with fruit!. ur killing urselfWww@Answer-Health@Com

That is not enough calories!. You are right by eating a healthy diet!. Try more calories, less carbs and exercise!. Increasing your activity instead of decreasing your caloric intake is a wiser choice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

this type of diet is ok for short periods at a time eg if you have a wedding or party to go to and you want to shift a few pounds the week b4 you go , but long term this diet is no good, your body is probably going into starvation mode and as soon as you start eating normally again your weight will come back on!. after my first child i got obsessed wit losing weight n in the end was eating hardley anything, i was tiered and grumpy my skin was horribal and i fainted a few times thats wen i pulled myself together!. try eating a bowl of fruit with a bit of yogot on for breakfast then a chicken or halm salad for lunch n a low calorie dinner !.like jacked potato or a small portion of pastaWww@Answer-Health@Com
