Grapefruits are great for a diet, but don't let that be the only thing you consume!. Personally, I recommend a reasonable breakfast, a light lunch with grapefruit, and just a grapefruit during evening hours!. I won't recommend specific meals, but just make sure they're balanced and make sure that you don't exceed your recommended daily allowances of fats!. My lady was on such a diet and lost about 9 pounds in 3 weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hi, i'm studying to become a dietician right now!. and i can honestly tell you, these "diets" are probably the worst things to go on!. why!? because 1) you can't just eat the same kind of food everyday or your body will not get the necessary nutrients!. 2) the weight that you lose is only temporary and you will probably gain it all back (if not all) very quickly!. Instead, try focusing on increasing your daily exercise to a healthy amount, and decreasing your intake of food, while still getting enough calories (no less than 1200 is recommended)!. try eating a balanced diet filled with fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains!. might take a while, but it promotes good health and good results in the long run!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With the grapefruit diet the weight comes back the second you go off, and you get horrible energy crashes and headaches while you are on it!. Look up the Sacred Heart diet instead, you will still gain back the weight but not nearly as fast and you won't feel sick at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The Promise:

In 2 1/2 months you should lose 52 pounds!. I'm not sure if this promise is accurate, and I haven't tried this diet, it seems a little odd though, but who knows, maybe just read this one and laugh at it!.

The Rules:

You must drink eight 8oz!. glasses of water daily (64 oz!. total per day)!.
At any meal you may eat until you are full!.
You must eat the minimum listed at each meal!. (yep, this diet list the minimum you should eat)!.
You cannot eliminate anything from the diet!. Especially the bacon at breakfast and the salads!. You must eat the bacon and salads!. These combinations of food burn the fat, omitting one part of the combination will cause the whole thing not to work!.
The grapefruit or fruit juice is important because it acts as a catalyst that starts the burning process!. Don't add or reduce the amount of grapefruit or juice!.
Cut down on coffee, it affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning process!. Try to limit to 1 cup at meal time!.
Don't eat between meals!. If you eat the suggested foods you will not get hungry!.
You can fry food in butter and use butter generously on vegetables!.
Do not eat desserts, breads, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes!.
You may double or triple helpings of meat, salad or vegetables!.
Eat until you are stuffed!. The more you eat the more weight you will lose!.
Stay on the diet 12 days, then stop the diet for 2 days and repeat!.
Diet Plan:

Breakfast:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz!. juice (unsweetened)
2 eggs any style
2 slices of bacon
Lunch:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz!. juice (unsweetened)
Salad with any dressing
Meat any style and any amount!.
Dinner:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz!. juice (unsweetened)
Salad with any dressing OR a red or green vegetable cooked in butter or spices!.
Meat or even Fish any style cooked any way!.
Coffee or Tea (1 cup)
Bedtime Snack:
8oz!. glass of tomato juice or 8 oz cup of skim milk!.

This fat diet regained popularity in the mid-1970s as a bit of Xeroxlore!. It is occasionally attributed erroneously to the Mayo Clinic, which has expressed a decidedly negative opinion of the diet, considering it unbalanced and possibly dangerous!.

The original diet was an Atkins Style diet with the addition of 1/2 grapefruit before every meal!. The diet allowed only 3 meals a day and did not allow between-meal snacks!. Promotion for the diet was either "grapefruit diet plan lose 10 pounds in 10 days" or "grapefruit diet plan lose 5 pounds in 5 days", and also claimed "there might not be any weight loss the first 4 days, but on the 5th day, 5 pounds would be gone"!. The grapefruit was supposed to have fat-burning enzymes, but there is no evidence that any such enzymes exist!.

Still, the diet folklore continues today, so much so that doctors seem to be looking into the possibility that the grapefruit can, in fact, influence weight loss!. In a 2004 study at the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic, participants lost an average of 3!.6 pounds over 12 weeks eating half a grapefruit with each meal!. Participants who drank a serving of grapefruit juice with each meal lost an average of 3!.3 pounds over 12 weeks!. Many participants of Dr!. Ken Fujioka's study lost more than 10 pounds!.[2]

Dr!. Fujioka found that the grapefruit diet appears to reduce insulin levels and, thus, affects blood sugar regulation!. Still another explanation for the weight loss in the Scripps Clinic study can be found in the report
